The Hycontrol Sonarflex sludge blanket and interface controller is a microprocessor-based transmitter with an appropriate RVS sonar transducer and a cleaning mechanism. It can be programmed via an easy menu-driven keypad or remotely via a PC. It measures the blanket level in primary sedimentation tanks or the RAS Blanket and FLOC/FLUFF layers in secondary and final clarifiers.
The Sonarflex transmitter transmits a sound pulse from the transducer through the water, and then the pulse travels towards the blanket interface and the bottom of the tank. The waveform reflects off the blanket back to the Sonarflex. Compensation for the temperature is then applied. The compensated signal provides either a distance reading to the blanket/interface level or the height of the blanket/interface from the bottom of the tank.
This unit can track multiple bed layers and provide information on temperature, clarity and FLOC level via a Profibus output.
This system allows automation and control of underflow pumps and significantly improves plant efficiency. In addition, using the COMMS output option can also provide advanced warning of biological upsets. This crucial additional information allows operators to reduce chemical dosing and control aeration far more efficiently, reducing energy consumption and improving cost-effectiveness.
