Internal Sales Engineer

As an Internal Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day handling of enquiries, quotations and orders in a busy sales office. Working as a team member, your main job function will be processing customer enquiries from an e-mail, website contact, inbound phone calls or site reports and providing detailed quotations promptly.  The business is looking to grow and the right person will also be expected to proactively call customers to support our marketing strategy. Main Duties & Tasks:

  • Handle inbound enquiries (e-mails, phone calls, website contact forms or site visit reports).
  • Process quotations to present our recommendation for the best solution to the customer's issues. This may also involve preparing larger project presentations.
  • Convert quotations to orders and raise project cases as required.
  • Follow up outstanding quotations to secure additional business.
  • Contact customers on the company database, booking site visits or following up on outstanding project work.
  • Proactively call customers in support of the company's marketing strategy.
  • Making technically suitable recommendations based on the details of the customer's application.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Must hold GCSE level qualification of grade C (grade 4) or above in English and Maths.
  • Must have a good understanding of IT systems and should be comfortable using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
  • An understanding of/interest in engineering would be advantageous.
  • Additional qualifications are desirable but not essential. 

Salary and Benefits:

The position offers a competitive salary. After an initial six-month probation period, the salary will be reviewed based on the candidate's performance.  After the first year with the company, the new employee will be eligible for a discretional annual bonus. Employees get 33 days of holiday each year inclusive of bank holidays and winter (Christmas) shutdown. A Workplace Pension scheme is also available. Depending on the employee's performance, additional training and qualifications may be offered on the provision that the employee is expected to complete a minimum term of employment once the course is finished. This will be agreed upon when registering for a course.

Overview:

The ideal candidate will be a driven, self-motivated person. Full product training will be given so prior technical expertise is not required, but any candidates who have a desire for personal, professional development and an aptitude for learning will excel within this company. The candidate must be confident and able to communicate well both verbally and in writing. They will be fully supported as they settle into their new role. Education requirements:

We are willing to discuss this position with anyone who has achieved at least grade C (grade 4) in Maths and English at GCSE level and is proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office package. Additional qualifications such as a University degree would be considered desirable, but are not essential for this position.

Experience: 

Prior experience in a sales or customer-facing role is essential for this position.  Additional experience with level control or in technical product sales would be extremely advantageous.
