Hycontrol has launched a new low
cost range of vibrating probes for solids to complement its
very successful Diamond Point range the 600 and 660 series.
|
| This unique range of vibrating
level probes can handle all types of granular material and pellets
but has the advantage of no moving parts when compared to traditional
measuring methods such as rotating paddles. This range just
has an oscillating probe that simply operates by detecting if
the frequency changes when a dry product comes into contact
with it. |
|
| Historically
this technology has been more expensive than capacitance and
low cost paddle solutions, however, the cost of this new range
makes it an ideal choice as replacement to these existing old
devices. |

|
Short
fork technology is the key to this new range of vibrating tuning
fork level switches designed for liquids. The MTF and TF series
offer many advantages to the user which enable the switch to
operate in very small tanks, vessels and pipes. Extensive research
has maximised the operational effectiveness of the fork to enable
it to operate with aerated liquids and slurries and to function
even when coated with product. This rugged design of switch
is used throughout the process industries.

| It
is available with a wide range of process connections
and can have extensions, enabling the probe to reach
3 metres into a tank if required. The wetted parts of
standard switches are 316 stainless steel but special
Halar coated and Hastelloy switches are used for extremely
corrosive applications. Hygienic Tri-clover probes (shown
below) are available for the food industry if required.These
units can be set to switch for high and low alarm configuration
and have a variable time delay to stop any spurious
signals from turbulent or agitated surfaces. |

Also as standard
is the facility for a magnetic test point which allows the user
to perform a functional test on the switch to make sure its
output can change, to test any ancillary equipment connected
to it. Process connections from 3/4”BSP to a wide choice
of international flanges are available and switch output options
include relay, direct load and PNP. |
| Temperature ranges of -40 to 150
Deg C and pressure ranges up to 100 bar are also standard.Flameproof
EExd and intrinsically safe versions are also available for
hazardous area applications |

CHINA
‘STEELS’ 80 NEW RADARS
FOR
LONG RANGE SOLIDS APPLICATIONS. |

| The
launch of the new range of FMCW and TDR radars has taken
the market by storm, with a single order for over 80 instruments
for one new steel mill in China! The new extended series
has been introduced to provide additional capability to
Hycontrol's existing range of radar and TDR devices.
The new range can measure up to 100
metres, displaying level, volume, distance and interface
of liquids, slurries, pastes and solids. This new range
can be powered by 24vdc or 110/230vac.
Hazardous area certification is a standard option with
ATEX, EExd and EExia available.
Simplicity of programming and set up has also been considered
and can be carried out remotely or on site, using the
HART, Profibus (PA) or Foundation Fieldbus communication
protocols.

| Many
applications require existing equipment to be replaced. The wide range
of process connections and flanges available on this new range coupled
with an extensive choice of corrosion resistant materials, facilitate
a trouble free retrofit! The new series inherits the same flange system
as the existing range which allows users to replace any part of the
instrument without compromising the integrity of the tank. We believe
this to be a unique feature that gives us an edge over our competitors.
Processes do not need to be shut down if maintenance or replacement
of the instruments electronics becomes necessary. The new VF04 extends
the range of the very popular VF03 series from 24 metres to 60 metres
and has the added advantage of being able to measure interface level
between products of dissimiliar dielectrics. Both the VF03 and VF04
are immune to dust, foam and product build up which make this series
extremely flexible for a wide range of solid and liquid applications
. |

MICROFLEX-C TWO WIRE TRANSMITTER RANGE |
|
Two
wire, loop-powered transmitters have been around for quite a
time. They are available to measure pressure, temperature, level
and flow; indeed most process variables can be measured using
a 2 wire transmitter. Loop-powered devices provide the user
with a number of benefits, reduced cabling costs being the most
obvious with safety and simplicity coming a close second and
third. |
| It
is common practice for the sensor with its associated electronics
to be contained in a single device. Some manufactures include
an LCD and a means of setting zero and span, others provide
facilities to set up the transmitters operating parameters remotely,
using digital protocols. Due to the limited power available
it is very unusual to find a single relay output in these type
of devices and unheard of until now to find a loop powered device
with two relay outputs.
Hycontrol Limited,
the British manufacturer of ultrasonic level measuring systems,
for liquids and solids, has broken with convention and produced
a two wire loop powered Ultrasonic Level Transmitter with
two relay outputs. It has overcome the problems of power limitation
associated with these types of devices to introduce this new
range of instruments.

OPEN NEW OFFICE IN BEIJING, CHINA
Hycontrol have
now opened their first overseas office in China. The Beijing offices
will be known as Beijing Hycontrol Electronic & Technology Company
Limited. This office has been opened due to the high level of business
activity we have been experiencing from the Chinese market over
the last two years. It became clear that the normal distribution
route was not suitable for the Chinese market due to the shear size
and diversity of the market and the geographical size of the country.
Hycontrol needed their own operation if they were to succeed.
The office,
and all aspects of Hycontrols business in China, will be managed
by Hycontrols Regional Sales Manager for China Mr Simon Zhang. Simon
joins Hycontrol with an MBA and many years of experience of the
instrumentation business in China gained in Chinese joint venture
operations.

INVEST HALF A MILLION POUNDS
Hycontrol have
invested over 1/2 million pounds in a new building and refurbishment
program to increase the production area and offices of their Redditch
based facility.
With more space
being required for the production of the Ultrasonic level measuring
instruments and also to cope with the increased demand in special
projects which include small control panels, component builds and
pneumatic product assemblies, which has increased by over 75% in
the last 18 months. |

The Profibus Explosion-proof manifold 5/2 valve island design uses
the EEX [ia] pm protection.
Up to 32 valves per island require one bus address only.

This smart EEx bus manifold package has been designed for the control
