PROBLEM
Carbon dioxide is a natural byproduct of many processes and it is used extensively by industry and in particularly by the brewing trade both in production and for pressurising beer and soft drinks in pub cellars.
Despite its many advantages CO2 does have a major disadvantage: it is a colourless, odourless gas which is heavier than air and can be very dangerous in an enclosed low lying area. Quite simply, anyone entering such an area can quickly and without warning lose consciousness. |

SOLUTION
The Hycontrol carbon dioxide monitor is a simple and cost effective method of providing both a visual and audible indication of abnormally high levels of C02 in an enclosed environment.
The instrument consists of a sensor which monitors the ambient air mixture and the temperature surrounding it and then computes the percentage of C02 in the air.
The sensor tube is mounted in the risk area and connected via a cable, to the alarm controller located outside the high risk area. This provides, to anyone considering entering the risk area, an audible and visual indication when the C02 levels are high. The controller also has the facility to activate a relay Which can operate a second light or audible alarm, which may be located in an external Such as a control room or bar, or it can be used to switch off the C02 supply or switch on ventilation fans. |

C02 SENSOR
This is mounted approximately one metre above floor level in the area subject to C02 leakages. it is connected to the controller via a 10 metre cable which is supplied with the sensor. This cable can be extended using standard 4 core screened cable. |

MULTI CHANNEL CONTROLLER
This is the lowest cost solution for large buildings with C02 stored in several places. This instrument can be selected to monitor up to three sensors in three separate locations. A single cable goes from the controller to each sensor using conventional junction boxes as shown below.
The sensor number lights indicate which location is being monitored and the alarm status lights for each location remain active whilst the instrument is scanning the other two locations.
The specification for each channel is the same as the single channel instrument. Manual selection of an individual channel is possible for calibration purposes. |
