ATEX Temperature switches for corrosive and demanding environments

All CCS DUAL-SNAP Pressure and Temperature switch models are available with a choice of SPDT or DPDT micro-switches including Gold contacts for Intrinsically safe applications. All certified explosion-proof models have hermetically sealed electrical assemblies as standard.

Electrical termination/connection options*, all switches can be furnished to suit individual applications. We offer a choice of approved junction boxes, DIN connectors [weatherproof, compact models] or free leads.

On corrosive or sour service, wetted process parts can be supplied as standard in 316 Stainless steel, Monel or Hastelloy all in full compliance with the latest NACE [National Association of Corrosion Engineers] specifications and a choice of corresponding elastomer seals are available.

Adjustable Pressures from 38 mm H20 to 1100 Bar G [1.5" H20 to 16000 PSIG]. Vacuum from 2.79 to 724 mm Hg. Temperatures from -34 to 343°C.

How They Work

Typical 'Trace Switch' designs suffer from a number of basic operating and reliability problems. The CCS DUAL-SNAP design using the disc-spring operating system, is designed to counter these disadvantages.

1. The heart of the design

It's a convex disc spring with a centre hole. It snaps to concave under pressure, and it snaps back when pressure is released.

2. Back up the disc spring with a fully adjustable helical spring

This unique application of the disc spring overcomes common switch problems. The helical spring can be compressed or elongated and locks firmly at any load. This permits precise adjustment over an extremely wide range of set points.

3. Add a limp diaphragm, switch and a probe partially filled with a volatile liquid which is vapourized when heated.

Pressure is exerted through a diaphragm and spring to actuate an electrical switch at a predetermined set point. Pressure generated in the sealed, stainless steal probe is directly proportional to the temperatures of the probe.

4. Now the system is packaged with components suitable for the specific temperature and environment.. and you have a Wide Range Dual-Snap Temperature Switch with these advantages:

Set points stay set - not sensitive to shock, vibration, ambient temperature, or other environmental conditions. No drifting set points to cause trouble.

Vapour type temperature sensing is more accurate then bimetallic types - simpler than thermocouples

No “tracing” because of fluctuations in system temperature or pressure - no “teasing” of the electrical element.
